Code 128 is a barcode symbology. GS1-128 is a GS1 application standard that uses Code 128 with Application Identifiers and FNC1 formatting. This tool creates standard Code 128 barcodes only.
Code 128 and GS1-128 are related but not identical. This tool creates standard Code 128 barcode images from values you provide. It does not issue, register, license or verify official GS1 identifiers, and it does not support GS1-128 Application Identifier or FNC1 encoding.
Technical notes: start, stop and checksum. Most users do not need to type Code 128 start characters, stop characters or checksums manually. The generator encodes the required start pattern, checksum and stop pattern automatically.

Code 128C encodes digits in pairs, so it requires an even digit count. Switching to Auto is the safe fix for odd-length numeric values.
Code 128 supports a broader character set and encodes more compactly, making it a better fit for SKUs, inventory and logistics than Code 39.
